News Jayne Atkinson and Treat Williams Star in Berkshire Theatre Group's The Lion in Winter The Berkshire Theatre Group's production of The Lion in Winter, starring Tony nominee Jayne Atkinson as Eleanor of Aquitaine, begins performances June 25. The production runs through July 13.

The cast also includes Tara Franklin as Alais, Aaron Costa Ganis as Richard, Karl Gregory as John, Tommy Schrider as Geoffrey, Matthew Stucky as Philip and Treat Williams as Henry. The production is directed by Robert Moss.

"An epic and humorous tale of political strategy and family dynamics, The Lion in Winter, set during Christmas 1183, tells the story of King Henry II, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, and their sons, Richard, Geoffrey and John as they play a deadly game of real life chess; winner takes the throne," press notes state. "Who will come out on top as the ruler of England and the ruler of the family?"

Atkinson, who received Tony nominations for her roles in Enchanted April and The Rainmaker, has also been seen on Broadway in Blithe Spirit, Our Town and Ivanov. Her film work includes "Syriana," "Free Willy," "Free Willy 2" and "The Village," and her television work includes "The Practice," "The X-Files" and "Law and Order." She has also performed in numerous Off-Broadway and regional productions.
