Classic Arts News Jazz at Lincoln Center Names Executive Director Jazz at Lincoln Center has promoted vice president of development Katherine E. Brown to executive director, the organization announced yesterday.
Brown, who helped to raise $131 million for JALC's new Frederick P. Rose Hall as vice president, fills a position vacated by Derek E. Gordon earlier this year when he was promoted to president after the retirement of Hughlyn F. Fierce. Brown will now oversee fundraising, marketing, and public relations as well as assisting Gordon with the oversight of Rose Hall's daily operations, according to a statement.

"I am extremely pleased that Kathy will be assuming these new responsibilities and look forward to our working together on the many opportunities and challenges ahead," Gordon said.

Lisa Schiff, chairman of JALC's board, added, "Kathy's deep understanding of the organization's goals and operations along with her strong management abilities will be tremendous assets as Jazz at Lincoln Center moves into the next phase of its development. The board and I feel we could not have a stronger team leading the Jazz at Lincoln Center than Derek and Kathy."

Before coming to Jazz at Lincoln Center in 1997, Brown worked at the New York Public Library and New York City Ballet in development positions.
