Classic Arts News Jazz at Lincoln Center Stages Free 'Jazz Battle,' December 18 Some of the top instrumentalists in jazz will face off at a "jazz battle" at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Hall on Saturday, December 18.
The event, at the 140-seat Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, is free on a first-come, first-served basis. Audience members are encouraged to line up early for each of the three rounds.

The battle features the rhythm section of pianist Eric Lewis, bassist Carlos Henriquez, and drummer Ali Jackson. In the first round, at 1 p.m., alto saxophonist Wess "Warmdaddy" Anderson will duel alto player Antonio Hart. At 2 p.m., guitarists Mark Whitfield and Doug Wamble will fight it out. The third round, at 3 p.m., features tenor saxophonists James Carter and J. D. Allen.
