Classic Arts News Jean-Yves Thibaudet to Give Performance, Discussion Panel at Morgan Library The French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet will celebrate the release of his new Decca CD, Aria, Opera Without Words, on February 15 at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York City.
The evening includes a discussion and question-and-answer session with Thibaudet, as well as a live performance of selections from the new CD; he will sign copies of the recording afterwards.

Aria, scheduled for release on February 13, is a collection of piano arrangements of operatic music, from a m_lodie from Gluck's Orph_e et Eurydice to Puccini's "O mio babbino caro" and "Vissi d'arte" to Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries."

"Ever since I was the littlest boy," says Thibaudet, "all I wanted to do was sing because the human voice allows you to share the deepest of emotions. Unfortunately, I was not born with the type of voice that one needs for opera or Lieder, but I am thankful every single day that I was given these hands so I can sing with my fingers."

The event begins at 7 p.m.
