News Jeff Austin, David Engel, Bets Malone Will Join Andrea McArdle for Musical Theatre West's Annie As previously reported, Andrea McArdle, who earned a Tony nomination for creating the title role in the hit Broadway musical Annie, will graduate to the part of the evil Miss Hannigan Oct. 29-Nov. 14 for Musical Theatre West in Long Beach, CA.

McArdle recently played the same role in the North Carolina Theatre production of the Tony-winning musical.

Newly announced for the limited engagement are Jeff Austin as Oliver Warbucks, Shannon Warne as Grace Farrell, David Engel as Rooster, Bets Malone as Lily St. Regis, Mark Capri as Franklin D. Roosevelt and Melody Hollis as Annie. Rounding out the cast as the orphans will be are Paige Befeler as July, Alexa Freeman as Pepper, Grace Kaufman as Molly, Madison Milledge as Tessie, Jenna Rosen as Duffy and Danielle Soibelman as Kate.

The ensemble includes Jef Canter, Amberly Chamberlain, Sean Clifford, Amy Gillette, Brian Michael Hoffman, Damon Kirsche, Nick Lorenzini, Melissa Mitchell, Todd Nielsen, Jennifer Strattan and Mikey as Sandy.

The upcoming production will be directed by Steven Glaudini with musical direction by Daniel Thomas and choreography by Roger Castellano.

Featuring a book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin, Annie is based on the famed comic-strip character who begins an orphan and ends up the daughter of a billionaire. The original Broadway production opened in April 1977 and made a star out of its first Annie, Andrea McArdle, and won a Tony for its Miss Hannigan, the late Dorothy Loudon. The show also won the Tony Award for Best Musical. Its classic score includes such tunes as "Tomorrow," "Maybe," "Little Girls," "Easy Street" and "It's the Hard Knock Life." Andrea McArdle made her Broadway debut in the original 1977 production of Annie for which she received a Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. Her other Main Stem credits include Les Misérables, Starlight Express, Beauty and the Beast and State Fair. McArdle also played Rose in a production of Gypsy at Texas' Bay Area Houston Ballet & Theatre. Her screen credits include "Annie" and "Rainbow."
