News Jeff Daniels Joins Cast of Upcoming "Traitor" Film Jeff Daniels — recent star of Off-Broadway's Blackbird — has signed on to star with Don Cheadle, Neal McDonough and Guy Pearce in the forthcoming film "Traitor," reports Variety.

Jeffrey Nachmanoff ("The Day After Tomorrow") pens and directs the film based on a story idea by Steve Martin. Overture Films will distribute the film. Filming will begin next week in Toronto, according to the trade mag. The spy thriller centers around an American special operative (Cheadle) working with a terrorist group who become the target of suspicions.

Daniels and McDonough join a cast that includes Cheadle, Pearce as well as Archie Panjabi, Alyy Kahn and Said Taghmaoui.

Daniels last appeared Off-Broadway in David Harrower's Blackbird at the Manhattan Theatre Club. The actor is also known for such film work as "The Squid and The Whale," "Dumb & Dumber," "Terms of Endearment," "Gettysburg" and more. He also appeared on Broadway in Redwood Curtain, Fifth of July and The Golden Age. Daniels has also written plays, many of which have been staged at Chelsea, Michigan's Purple Rose Theatre Company — of which he is founder and executive director.
