The return Off-Broadway engagement of Bright Colors and Bold Patterns, previously scheduled through January 7, 2018, will now play an extended run through February 25. Drew Droege, creator and star of the acclaimed monologue play about gay marriage, will play his final performance January 7, after which Jeff Hiller (Nightcap, 30 Rock, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) will step into the show.

The show will go on a 10-day hiatus, with Hiller beginning performances January 17.

After playing sold-out runs in Los Angeles and two Off-Broadway engagements last year, Bright Colors and Bold Patterns kicked off a return Off-Broadway run at SoHo Playhouse beginning November 12.

Directed by Michael Urie, the solo play details the events leading up to a couple’s wedding in Palm Springs. But as the evening spirals into a drunken, drug-fueled scream riot, one of the guests becomes more and more furious about a stipulation on the wedding invitation: “Please refrain from wearing bright colors or bold patterns.”

The show features set design by Dara Wishingrad and is produced by Zach Laks in association with Riki Kane Larimer. Tom DeTrinis serves as associate producer.

Bright Colors and Bold Patterns was originally presented at L.A.’s VS Theatre with direction by Molly Prather. It was remounted at Celebration Theatre in Los Angeles and transferred to the Barrow Street Theatre in 2016.
