News Jeffrey Seller and Thomas Cott Discuss Producing and Musical Theatre, March 19 in NYC Jeffrey Seller, producer of La Bohème and Rent, will have a conversation with Thomas Cott, the new artistic director of Musical Theatre Works, 6:30-9 PM March 19 at the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered Community Center in Manhattan.

Out Professionals presents the discussion on the subject of producing, musicals and the new Baz Luhrmann Broadway staging of Puccini's La Bohème.

Since 1996, Jeffrey Seller has produced three shows, all currently playing in New York: Rent (1996), for which he won the Tony Award, De La Guarda (1998) and La Boheme (2002).The Booking Group, a Broadway touring agency that Seller and Kevin McCollum control in partnership with Clear Channel Entertainment, is now the largest in the country. In early 2004, they plan to open an Off Broadway Theatre Center housing three theatres on West 37th Street.

Seller lives in New York with his partner, Joshua Lehrer, and their daughter, May Lehrer-Seller.

Prior to joining MTW, the only New York not-for-profit theater company devoted exclusively to the development of new musicals, Cott served at Lincoln Center Theater for 18 seasons, helping to produce 100 shows. Cott's responsibilities at LCT included marketing and audience development, the scouting and development of new musical theatre projects and coordination of 14 cast recordings. He is a past president of Out Professionals.

Networking and socializing begins at 6:30 PM with discussion to follow. Admission is $8 for public, $5 for OP members. The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center is located at 208 West 13th Street.
