News Jekyll & Hyde Star Makes Directorial Debut June 24-July 20 Robert Cuccioli, who starred in the title roles of Broadway's Jekyll & Hyde, will make his New Jersey directorial debut with the Tennessee Williams classic The Glass Menagerie.

Cuccioli will direct Williams' semi-autobiographical masterpiece for the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, June 24-July 20. Robert Petkoff heads the cast as Tom Wingfield with Wendy Barrie-Wilson as Amanda, Katherine Kellgren as Laura and Kevin Rolston as The Gentlemen Caller. The creative team comprises Brian Ruggaber (set design), Bruce Auerbach (lighting design) and Hugh Hanson (costume design). In a statement director Cuccioli said, "Tennessee Williams based the characters in The Glass Menagerie on real people he knew all too well: his own family. For the first 30 years of his life, he was living The Glass Menagerie, and it was from that often traumatic experience that his masterpiece, this 'little play,' as he would disdainfully call it, evolved. However, all of us can and will recognize parts of ourselves and our family members mirrored in the shards of glass that make up the brilliant whole of The Glass Menagerie."

Robert Cuccioli earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical for his work in Jekyll & Hyde. He won the Drama Desk and the Outer Critics Circle awards for that performance as well. Cuccioli also appeared in the Broadway production of Les Misérables and has been seen on screen in "Sliders," "Baywatch," "Celebrity," "The Stranger" and "Operation Delta Force 3: Clear Target." Most recently, he starred Off-Broadway in Temporary Help.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey is located on the campus of Drew University, 36 Madison Avenue. Tickets to the theatre's production of The Glass Menagerie are available by calling (973) 408-5600. For more information, visit www.shakespearenj.org.
