Stage and screen favorite Jeremy Jordan will return to Broadway in the upcoming fall engagement of Christopher Demos-Brown’s American Son, appearing alongside the previously announced Kerry Washington and Steven Pasquale. The Tony nominee will play Officer Paul Larkin, marking his first role in a non-musical play on Broadway.
The Kenny Leon-helmed production will begin performances October 6 at the Booth Theatre; opening night is set for November 4. The cast also includes Eugene Lee.
Jordan last appeared on Broadway in Newsies, for which he earned a Tony nomination. His additional credits include Bonnie and Clyde, Rock of Ages, and West Side Story. On screen, he’s known for his performances in the CW’s Supergirl, NBC’s Smash, and the film adaptation of The Last Five Years.
“I've been dying to return to Broadway for quite some time, and American Son is everything I could ask for: challenging, timely, intimate, and a vast departure from anything else I've ever done,” he said in a statement.
The play, which premiered at Barrington Stage Company in 2016, follows a separated, interracial couple that reunites as they must grapple with the disappearance of their teenage son.
