News Jeremy Jordan Will Not Perform in Newsies July 2 Jeremy Jordan, a 2012 Tony nominee for his work in the Tony-nominated musical Newsies, will miss the July 2 performance of the new Disney musical at the Nederlander Theatre.

The actor, who will also be seen in the second season of NBC's "Smash," Tweeted July 2, "Hey guys! I'm out tonight. Not feeling well. First time I ever called out, feels weird! But come anyway and cheer on @BrenStims as Jack!!"

Jordan's understudy for the role of Jack Kelly is Brendon Stimson.

Newsies was nominated for eight Tony Awards, including Best Book (Harvey Fierstein), Best Score (Jack Feldman and Alan Menken), Best Actor (Jeremy Jordan), Best Direction of a Musical (Jeff Calhoun) and Best Choreography (Christopher Gattelli). It won awards for Best Score and Best Choreography.

The Broadway company of Newsies features Jordan as Jack Kelly, John Dossett as Joseph Pulitzer, Kara Lindsay as Katherine Plumber, Capathia Jenkins as Medda Larkin, Ben Fankhauser as Davey, Andrew Keenan-Bolger as Crutchie, and Lewis Grosso and Matthew Schechter alternating in the role of Les.
