The soundtrack to Jerry Herman's upcoming TV musical, "Mrs. Santa Claus," is scheduled to hit stores nationally Nov. 26. It's his first complete new score since La Cage aux Folles in 1983.CBS-TV will broadcast "Mrs. Santa Claus" Dec. 8 at 8 PM.
"Mrs. Santa Claus" reunites Lansbury with Jerry Herman, the Tony and Grammy Award-winner who previously worked with Lansbury in Dear World and Mame.
Herman also wrote music and lyrics for Hello, Dolly!, La Cage aux Folles, Milk and Honey, Mack & Mabel and other shows. His memoir, Showtune was published in November by Donald I. Fine.
The soundtrack of "Mrs. Santa Claus" features 12 new Herman songs.
Coinciding with the Nov. 19 New York release of the CD was a signing by composer-lyricist Herman and the musical's star, Angela Lansbury, who had just been the subject of a major tribute by AMFAR, Angela Lansbury, a Celebration.
