News Jersey Boys Will Serenade "Sopranos" at the Emmy Awards As previously announced, the San Francisco cast of Jersey Boys will perform on The 59th Primetime Emmy Awards. The company, it was announced Sept. 12, will pay homage to HBO's "The Sopranos."

"We would be remiss if we didn't recognize the longtime contribution to television by one of our medium's most creative and durable drama series, 'The Sopranos'," stated Emmy executive producer Ken Ehrlich in a release. "In a keystone segment of this year's telecast, the cast of Broadway's hottest show will honor the other Jersey boys with a musical send-off featuring songs from the Jersey Boys score."

Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, the Emmy Awards will be broadcast live from Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium Sept. 16 at 8 PM (ET) on FOX; check local listings.

 

Drew Gehling (as Bob Gaudio), Michael Ingersoll (Nick Massi), Jeremy Kushnier (Tommy DeVito) and Jarrod Spector (Frankie Valli) lead the Jersey Boys company, which also features Dominic Bogart, Lyndsey Cole, John Michael Coppola, John Michael Dias, Mike Erickson, Steven M. Goldsmith, John Hickman, Lauren Marshall, Rashad Naylor, Jenny Lee Ramos, Brad Russell, Kevin Russell, Jake Speck, Kara Tremel, Ryan Quinn West with Craig Laurie and Jonathan Weir.

The company currently performs in San Francisco at the Curran Theatre. The 2006 Tony Award-winning musical still plays on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre and will play in Chicago at the LaSalle Bank Theatre (starting Oct. 5). Productions are also slated for Las Vegas and London in addition to the national tour. The David Chase-created series starred stage vets James Gandolfini, Edie Falco, Michael Imperioli, Lorraine Bracco, Aida Turturro and Tim Daly (all current Emmy nominees), among others. Shot locally in New Jersey and surrounding areas, the series provided a wealth of TV gigs for New York actors.
