The 24 Hour Musicals: Los Angeles has announced additional participating performers, writers, composers, and directors. The first-ever L.A. edition will take place July 17 at the United Artists Theater at Ace Hotel.
Joining the previously announced performers are Shoshana Bean (Wicked), playwright and actor Jesse Eisenberg (The Spoils) who is making his debut as a composer and lyricist, singer-songwriter Nellie McKay, Alex Newell (Glee), Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood, Daredevil), Ashley Fink (Glee), and Amanda Seales (Insecure).
They join performers Wayne Brady (Kinky Boots, Hamilton), Michelle Visage (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Garrett Clayton (Hairspray Live!), Janina Gavankar (True Blood), Alicia Witt (The Walking Dead), Vella Lovell (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Donna Lynne Champlin (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), and Andrew Leeds (Bones, Groundlings).
The theatrical event sees a team of artists write, compose, rehearse, and perform four original musicals within a 24-hour time period, all in the name of charity.
The funds raised will support the Dramatists Legal Defense Fund, a nonprofit organization which advocates for the freedom of expression on behalf of those confronting censorship on the American stage.
The creative team for the evening will also feature writers Rachel Axler (VEEP), Matt Schatz (Love Trapezoid), J. Holtham (Pitch), Rona Siddiqui (One Good Day), Tasha Gordon-Solmon (I Now Pronounce); and directors Bart DeLorenzo, Kate Sullivan, and Casey Stangl.
Previously announced playwright Lydia Diamond will be the featured speaker for the evening.
