The world premiere of Jessica Dickey's The Convent opens at A.R.T./New York Theatres January 24. Directed by Daniel Talbott, the new play follows the intersecting stories of a group of women who go on a a retreat to live like nuns during the Middle Ages. There, they are baptized with ’80s pop, female mysticism, hallucinogens, and much more.

The cast of The Convent is made up of Amy Berryman, Annabel Capper, Margaret Odette, Brittany Anikka Liu, Lisa Ramirez, Samantha Soule, and Wendy vanden Heuvel.

The world premiere is presented by Weathervane Productions and Rising Phoenix Repertory, in association with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater.

The Convent features scenic design by Raul Abrego, costume design by Tristan Raines, lighting design by Joel Moritz, sound design by Erin Bednarz, projection design by Katherine Freer, and fight direction by Unkle Dave’s Fight-House. Kendra Bator serves as executive producer. General manager is Snug Harbor Productions, Inc. (Steven Chaikelson).

Performances of The Convent began January 16 for a run scheduled through February 17.
