A one-man play about an obsessive horseplayer, Jimmy Gamble, will have its world premiere at the Egyptian Arena Theatre in Hollywood, May 14. The 70-minute monologue is written and performed by Gary Bairos, who recently co-starred with Gabriel Byrne and Nastassia Kinski in "Somebody is Waiting." Jimmy Gamble focuses on Jimmy's horse-playing addiction which he inherited from his grandmother. Jimmy has been haunted all his life by two big questions: Will he beat the odds? Will his long shot come in or will he lose at the wire?

Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 PM through May 29. The Egyptian Theatre is located at 1625 N. Las Palmas Ave. Call (323) 969-2404.
