News Jocelyn Named Artistic and General Director of CanStage Matthew Jocelyn will succeed Martin Bragg as the artistic and general director of the Canadian Stage Company.

Jocelyn, a Toronto native who guest directed at Canada's Stratford Shakespeare Festival, has served as the artistic and general director of the Atelier du Rhin and co-founded the Théâtre de l’Autre Rive and founded the Théâtre Des-Hérités.

Jocelyn is currently transitioning into the position under Bragg's guidance for. Jocelyn will officially assume his role as artistic and general director of the Canadian Stage Company on June 15.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to lead The Canadian Stage Company, and once again make my home in Toronto and Canada," Jocelyn said in a statement. "My intent is to be accessible and open, to listen, as I establish a vision for the future of the Company. I will be relying on Marty and the Company staff, and meeting with the many talented artists who share my enthusiasm for this important performing arts institution as I come up to speed."

Martin Bragg, who has spent 17 years with Canadian Stage Company, previously announced that he would not seek to renew his contract, which expires in July 2009. Bragg will exit his position at the end of March.
