The New York premiere of John Leguizamo: Latin History for Morons began Off-Broadway previews February 24 at the Public Theater. Directed by Tony Taccone, the satirical solo show is created and performed by Emmy winner Leguizamo, and was inspired by his observation that Latinos were often overlooked in the teaching of American history.

John Leguizamo: Latin History for Morons will officially open March 27 and is scheduled to play through April 23.

“Just imagine you’re a white kid and all of a sudden everybody’s Latin and everything they’re teaching you is Latin and you don’t hear anything about yourself or about your contributions,” explained Leguizamo in an earlier press statement from the Public. “And it’s really weird and unfair because we had huge contributions.”
