New York Performance Works is presenting the world premiere of John Soster's Furious, opening June 28. Previews began June 18 for the production, which takes place at NYPW's home space at 85 West Broadway at Chambers Street.
Furious is a psychological thriller pitting mother against son. A brilliant recluse and one-time rising academic now living as a survivalist in Wyoming finds himself thrown into chaos when his mother visits unexpectedly. The truth surrounding his father's death leads to a confrontation they could never have imagined.
David Elliott directs a cast including Annie Murray (Roundabout's Pygmalion), Bill Cain (The Heiress), Jud Meyers ("Candyman"), and Christopher Cook ("I Shot Andy Warhol"). Director Elliott has worked at Irish Rep and the Miranda Theatre Company; author Soster has previously penned Kiss Me On The 61C and Swimming on the Moon.
