The evening is inspired by Jones' solo debut recording "Showfolk," which reimagines contemporary Broadway songs in the folk and bluegrass vein. The album was released in April.
Jones is joined by actor and composer Randy Redd (What's That Smell?) and backed by a band of musicians playing acoustic guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, dobro, upright bass, and bouzouki.
Songs featured on the album are "Another Day" (Rent), "Breeze Off the River" (The Full Monty), "For Good" (Wicked), "Little Bird, Little Bird" (Man of La Mancha), "The Streets of Dublin" (A Man of No Importance), "Gonna Build a Mountain" (Stop the World…), "Left Behind" (Spring Awakening), "Wicked Little Town" (Hedwig), "Stars and the Moon" (Songs for a New World), "Where, Oh Where" (The Robber Bridegroom) and "Lucky to Be Me" (On the Town).
Rachel Bay Jones has appeared in the Musicals in Mufti staging of It's a Bird. . . It's a Plane. . .
