Roth, president of Jujamcyn Theaters, and producer of the 2012 Tony Award-winning play Clybourne Park, is a board member of Freedom to Marry, the largest funder of regional marriage-rights work in the country. Roth's husband Jackson is executive producer of TV's "Nurse Jackie."

As part of an end-of-year fundraising campaign, Roth and Jackson are matching donations up to $100,000 through Dec. 31. Visit freedomtomarry.org if you wish to donate.

After the remarkable year we've had celebrating the victories of marriage equality and our own marriage, it is a unique privilege to be able to jumpstart the efforts to support Freedom to Marry's critical work ahead."

Freedom to Marry raised and invested a total of $7 million into the ballot states in 2011-2012, "helping to secure the freedom to marry in Maine, Maryland, and Washington and fending off a discriminatory amendment in Minnesota," according to the organization.

"The unwavering support of Jordan and Richie — and others who step up year after year — fuels the campaign we need to take the momentum we've built and turn it into next year's triumphs," said Evan Wolfson, founder and president of Freedom to Marry. "The clock ticking on a possible Supreme Court marriage case in the coming year; our supporters know they are not just on the right side of history, but part of making it happen." Roth is a longtime advocate for LGBT causes, serving on the boards of Freedom to Marry and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and formerly on the board of Gay Men's Health Crisis. He and Jackson married in New York City, at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, in September.
