Jose Llana, who played Ta in the Mark Taper Forum production of Flower Drum Song, has been confirmed for the Broadway mounting, which arrives at the Virginia Theatre on Sept. 23 with an official opening set for Oct. 17.

Llana will star opposite Miss Saigon Tony winner Lea Salonga in the Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein musical, which was originally produced on Broadway in 1958. Joining Salonga and Llana is Randall Duk Kim, who will play the role of Master Wang.

Jose Llana starred as Lun Tha in the recent revival of The King and I. He also appeared on Broadway in Streetcorner Symphony and was seen Off-Broadway in Saturn Returns: A Concert and On the Town. Randall Duk Kim's New York theatre credits include The King and I, The Tempest, Pericles, Chickencoop Chinaman, Year of the Dragon and Nourish the Beast. His regional theatre outings have been numerous, and he also starred in the BBC-TV production "Prisoners in Time" as well as the films "Replacement Killer" and "The Thin Red Line."

Featuring a new book by David Henry Hwang, the Flower Drum Song production — which received critical acclaim when it debuted in Los Angeles at the Mark Taper Forum — is being directed and choreographed by Side Show's Robert Longbottom. The remainder of the creative team comprises Robin Wagner (sets), Gregg Barnes (costumes), Natasha Katz (lighting), David Chase (musical supervision/arrangements) and Don Sebesky (orchestrations). Acme Sound Partners will handle the musical's sound design.

Tickets are now on sale and are available by calling Telecharge at (212) 239 6200 or by visiting www.telecharge.com. Group sales for the musical are currently available by calling (212) 398-8383.
