News Joseph Sousa's Teeth of the Sons to Make New York Premiere; Casting Announced Teeth of the Sons, Joseph Sousa's play about a homecoming that brings about unexpected family revelations and conflict, will have its New York premiere April 20-May 14 at Cherry Lane Studio Theatre. An official opening is set for April 22.

Nicole Haran will direct the Barefoot Theatre Company production. Sousa and Will Allen will play brothers who find themselves at odds. Casandera M.J. Lollar and Shayna Padovano will also be part of the cast.

The creative team will also feature set designer Josh Iacovelli, costume designer Victoria Malvagno, lighting designer Niluka Hotaling and sound designer Francisco Solorzano. Cory Bruce will compose original music for the production.

According to press notes, "The last time Sam saw his brother Jake, they were cruising the streets of Brooklyn as one another's ultimate wing man, the inseparable young sons of a Greek father and Jewish mother. Now in Mr. Sousa's Teeth of the Sons, Sam returns to Brooklyn after a long absence and no family contact, in need of refuge for his pregnant girlfriend and himself. Upon his arrival, he is startled to find the fun-loving Jake transformed into a born-again Hassidic scholar. The homecoming incites a clash of brotherhood, divided family loyalties, and a revelation that beyond a love for their ailing grandmother, perhaps all they really share is a past which at least one brother is desperately trying to bury."

Sousa's credits as an actor include Mother Courage  at the Public Theatre, King Lear at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts and Red Light Winter at New Workshop Theater. Teeth of the Sons had its world premiere at the Re-Theatre Instrument in Portland, OR, in fall 2009.
