As previously reported, the musical based on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Snow Queen" features music by Avenue Q and Book of Mormon Tony winner Robert Lopez and his wife, Kristen Anderson-Lopez ("Winnie the Pooh," Up Here, In Transit). Tony Award winner Stephen Oremus (Kinky Boots, The Book of Mormon) has arranged some of the music in the film.
Tony Award nominee Jonathan Groff (Spring Awakening, The Submission, "Glee") will voice the role of "mountain man" Kristof, with Tony Award winner Idina Menzel (Wicked, Rent) as the Snow Queen and Kristen Bell ("Reefer Madness," "Heroes") as Anna.
Chris Buck ("Tarzan," "Surf's Up") directs the computer-animated film that has a script by Jennifer Lee ("Wreck-It Ralph") and is produced by Peter Del Vecho ("Winnie the Pooh," "The Princess and the Frog").
"Frozen" will be released Nov. 27.
Here's how Disney characterizes the film: "In 'Frozen,' a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, so Anna (Bell) must team up with Kristoff, a daring mountain man, on the grandest of journeys to find the Snow Queen (Menzel) and put an end to the icy spell. Encountering Everest-like extremes, mystical creatures and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction."
