News Joyce Van Patten Will Confront The Show Off for the Peccadillo July 25 Stage and screen veteran Joyce Van Patten will lead a free reading of George Kelly's 1924 comedy The Show Off for the Peccadillo Theatre Company July 25 at the Theatre at St. Clement’s.

Van Patten, who most recently appeared on Broadway in the new musical The People in the Picture, will play Mrs. Fischer in the reading that will be directed by Peccadillo artistic director Dan Wackerman.

The cast will also include Lori Gardner (Inventing Avi, The Deep Throat Sex Scandal), Scott Evans (Room Service) and Mairin Lee (In the Next Room or the vibrator play).

According to the Peccadillo, the Pulitzer Prize-contending play focuses on "the bluff and bragging of American business life" and "the struggles of Aubrey Piper to satisfy his enormous egotism and at the same time preserve his self-respect constitute one of the best comedies of the 1920s."
