The Concert for America: Stand Up, Sing Out! series, which is raising money for human rights organizations, continues its unofficial tour of the U.S. as it hits Hartford, Connecticut, October 16.
While the first installments of the fundraising series took place in New York, Playbill columnist and Sirius/XM radio host Seth Rudetsky and his husband, James Wesley, have been bringing the concerts to cities across the country, including recent outings in Atlanta and Seattle. The October concert of songs, comedy, and commentary (the ninth in the series) will take place at Hartford’s Bushnell Hall.
The event will be live-streamed over Facebook. Watch it below, starting at 7:30 PM ET.
Rudetsky will host the Hartford concert, which is scheduled to headline Broadway talent including two-time Tony Award winner Matthew Broderick (Brighton Beach Memoirs, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying), four-time Tony nominee Judy Kuhn (Fun Home), Tony nominees Maurice Hines (Uptown...It’s Hot!) and Beth Malone (Fun Home), along with fellow Broadway stars Capathia Jenkins, Holly Near, Todrick Hall, Jenna Ushkowitz, Natalie Cortez, and John and Leo Manzari. Participating performers are subject to change.
The Concerts for America series benefits The Southern Poverty Law Center, National Immigration Law Center, The Sierra Club Foundation, NAACP, and National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
Tickets for the concert cost $21.75 to $79.50 (30 percent off with discount code NCCJ30) and can be ordered at Bushnell.org.
Judy Kuhn will be a special guest performer on Playbill’s Broadway on the High Seas July 2018 cruise to Iceland, accompanied by Christine Ebersole, Rob McClure, Jarrod Spector, and Carmen Cusack.
Cabins are still available for Broadway on the Danube River with Michael Feinstein for November 3–13, 2017, also featuring Rachel Bay Jones, Julia Murney, Christopher Fitzgerald, Laura Osnes, Marc Kudisch, Brandon Uranowitz, and Seth Rudetsky.
