The film, written by Danny Strong and directed by Jay Roach, is based on Mark Halperin and John Heilemann's book of the same name. It will look at Palin's move from Alaska governor to the national campaign stage when Republican presidential candidate John McCain selected her as his running mate.

Moore appeared on Broadway in The Vertical Hour and in Ice Cream and Hot Fudge and Serious Money at the Public Theater, among other stage credits. She was Oscar-nominated for her performances in "Far from Heaven," "The Hours," "The End of the Affair" and "Boogie Nights."

Freckleface Strawberry, a musical adaptation of her children's book, is currently running at New World Stages.
