92nd Street Y will present an evening celebrating the 20th anniversary of Disney's The Lion King October 29 at 7 PM.
The event will feature Tony-winning Lion King director Julie Taymor in conversation with Christopher Jackson. Prior to earning a Tony nomination for creating the role of George Washington in the Pulitzer Prize-winning Hamilton, Jackson was part of the original ensemble of The Lion King, later taking over the role of the musical's protagonist, Simba.

Attendees can expect cast performances from the show and a look at how Taymor’s puppets come to life onstage. Taymor (represented on Broadway this season with M. Butterfly) will also discuss the process of adapting the animated film for the Broadway stage.
Directed by Taymor—who became the first woman to ever receive a Tony for Best Director of a Musical—The Lion King has won over 30 major awards, including six Tonys, eight Drama Desk Awards, six Outer Critics Circle Awards, two Oliviers, the Evening Standard Award for Best Theatrical Event, and three Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards.
