News Julie Taymor, Meredith Monk and More Set for La MaMa Talks Interdisciplinary artist Meredith Monk will be part of the Jan. 23 Monday Nights at La MaMa series, part of the experimental company's 50th anniversary season.

Monk (Quarry, Mercy, Book of Days), a composer, singer, director and choreographer, will offer selections from her repertoire and discuss her work as part of the 7:30 PM conversation at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre. John Killacky will moderate the talk.

The series launched with Tony Award nominee Elizabeth Swados (Runaways, Kaasper Hauser, La MaMa Cantata) last fall. Upcoming artists scheduled to appear include Tony Award winner Julie Taymor (Spider-Man, The Lion King, "Across the Universe"), as well as composers Philip Glass and Tan Dun.

Dates will be announced shortly.

The series celebrates the work of various artists who were shaped by and also helped shape La MaMa e.t.c.
