Willy Russell´s award winning musical Blood Brothers (Hermanos de Sangre) will open late October in Mexico City.
The stars and producers of the show are singer/actress Julissa and her two sons in real life, Benny and Alejandro Ibarra.
Julissa produced and starred the Mexican productions of Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She also produced the 1985 children-cast revival of Grease, starring her sons Benny and Alejandro Ibarra.
The director and the rest of the cast for the Mexican Blood Brothers will be announced shortly. Julissa said that she is interested in Tomas Goros (from the recently closed production of Kiss of the Spider Woman) for the Narrator role, but there are strong rumours that Goros will play Che in the up-coming revival of Evita.
The opening night for Hermanos de Sangre will mark also the opening of a new major theatre in Mexico City, the Teatro Alameda 2, located next door to the Teatro Alameda 1. Both Alameda theatres are property of Televisa, which is one of Mexico´s leading broadcasting companies. -- By Claudio Carrera
