Jerome Flynn will star as the much-loved comedian Tommy Cooper in Jus' Like That at the Garrick Theatre in April.

Previews start April 3, and the play — by John Fisher — will open April 8. Cooper, a hugely popular television star as well as a live entertainer, actually died in a theatre (Her Majesty's) after collapsing on stage with a heart attack during his act.

Jus' Like That will be directed by Simon Callow, fresh from his own stage success as an actor in Through The Leaves at the Southwark Playhouse.

Jerome Flynn is perhaps best known for the several series of "Soldier, Soldier" that he co-starred in, while his stage work includes productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Young Vic and the Royal Court.

Producer David Pugh had a major West End hit at Wyndham's with a tribute to television comedy duo Morecambe and Wise in The Play What I Wrote.
