Enrico Colantoni, who appears as staff photographer Elliott Di Mauro on NBC's "Just Shoot Me," is producing and starring in a stripped-down version of Shakespeare's Macbeth at the Matrix Theatre in Hollywood. The 15-performance schedule runs through March 7. Suzanne Cryer is the director, Steven Shore the executive producer. Others in the cast include Anna Gunn (Lady Macbeth), Greg Itzen, Patrick Kerr, Craig Mathers and Darryl Theirse. The play's running time is one and a half hours. Colantoni, a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Yale School of Drama, has appeared in The Merry Wives of Windsor at the New York Shakespeare Festival. He is mounting the project to satisfy an urge to return to the stage. "I want to create a nurturing, creative environment that will allow me, and others, to grow artistically," he said in a statement. "There's 'making a living' and feeding your soul. I strive for both."
The Matrix Theatre is at 7657 Melrose Ave. $10 for all performances except Sun. matinees when "Pay What You Can" prevails to allow actors and students to attend. Call (213) 972-7389.
