News Justin Lee Collins to Star in West End Rock of Ages British TV and radio personality Justin Lee Collins will star in the West End premiere of Rock of Ages, beginning performances at the Shaftesbury Theatre Aug. 31, prior to an official opening Sept. 27.

He will play the role of bar owner and aging hippy, Dennis Dupree (played in the original LA stage show by Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass, and being played in the forthcoming film version, in production now, by Alec Baldwin). According to press materials, Collins has always had a passion for singing and for the theatre. He has previously appeared in the West End as Mr. Cellophane in Chciago for three perfomrances as part of a series for Sky TV, "JLC Is..." He also performed as Tom Jones in "Convention Crasher" for Channel 4; and he actually got to perform with the man himself on the "Sunday Night Project" (Channel 4) when Jones appeared as a guest host in the last series. He has sung live on several occasions on Chris Moyles' Radio One Breakfast Show.

In a press statement he said, "Being a fan of bands like Whitesnake, Foreigner, Journey and Bon Jovi, I couldn’t resist when I heard about the chance to appear in the show. What young lad hasn’t strummed the air guitar to the classic riffs of those poodle-haired rock bands of the 80’s? Now I’ll get to do it on stage every night!"

Further casting is still to be announced. To book tickets, contact the box office on 020 7379 5399 or visit www.rockofagesmusical.co.uk.
