News Justin Sayre’s Love’s Refrain Plays Off-Broadway The "romanticism for the modern age" is now playing at La MaMa.

Justin Sayre, whose popular variety show The Meeting*, is now in its seventh season at Joe’s Pub, brings his solo play, Love’s Refrain, Off-Broadway. The new show kicked off a two-weekend run at La MaMa Experimental Club April 1 and will play through April 10.

Love’s Refrain is billed as “romanticism for the modern age,” welding personal stories with the science of poetry and astronomy to provide a unique definition of love. Written and performed by Sayre, the solo play is directed by Matthew Placek.

Sayre is a staff writer on the CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls as well as the host and creator of The Meeting*, a comedy variety show at Joe’s Pub that tackles social issues, politics and gay culture.

Love’s Refrain features costume design by Dusty Childers and a musical score by David John Sokolowski.
