Former "American Idol" judge and Grammy winner Kara DioGuardi made her Broadway debut Sept. 6 when she stepped into the role of Roxie Hart in the Tony Award-winning revival of Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre. She continues in her eight-week limited engagement to Oct. 30. The new leading lady talked to Givenik.com about her transition to the stage and making her Broadway debut.

Here, DioGuardi chats about the difference between pop music and musical theatre. The performer departed "Idol" following the show's ninth season.

In her limited run with Chicago, DioGuardi performs alongside Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly, Tony Yazbeck as Billy Flynn, Chris Sullivan as Amos Hart and Carol Woods as Matron "Mama" Morton.
