Akers, who wowed Broadway audiences in the original production of Maury Yeston’s Nine, will perform in concert at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on July 26 at 8:30 PM. With musical direction by Don Rebic, "Theatre Songs" will feature many of the tunes she performed during her recent month-long run at the Algonquin Hotel's Oak Room. Akers, who earned a Tony nomination for her work as Luisa, the long suffering wife of filmmaker Guido Contini in Nine, will offer three songs from that musical during her concert: "Unusual Way," "Be On Your Own" and "My Husband Makes Movies." Her evening of "Theatre Songs" also includes tunes from Applause ("But Alive"), Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living Paris ("My Childhood"), Closer Than Ever ("If I Sing"), The Seven Percent Solution ("I Never Do Anything Twice"), Imaginary Friends ("Smart Women"), Baby ("Patterns"), Grand Hotel ("How Can I Tell Her?"), Chess ("I Know Him So Well" and "Anthem") and West Side Story ("I Have a Love" and "Somewhere").

In addition to her work in the Tommy Tune production of Nine, Akers also starred on Broadway in another Tune-directed musical, Grand Hotel. Her feature film credits include "The Purple Rose of Cairo," "Heartburn" and "Vibes," and she was seen in an episode of the hit TV series "Cheers." It's been the concert/cabaret stage, however, where Akers has garnered the most acclaim, performing in choice venues throughout the United States and Europe. Her seven solo recordings — including her most recent, "Feels Like Home" — are available on CD.

The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center is located in Westhampton Beach at 76 Main Street. Tickets for the concert are priced at $30, $40 and $50. Call (631) 288-1500 to make reservations.
