Also joining Boggess, who plays the first-person leading lady dubbed I, are James Barbour (Beauty and the Beast, A Tale of Two Cities) as Jack Favell, John Dossett (Gypsy) as Frank Crawley, Donna English (Lend Me a Tenor) as Beatrice de Winter and Nick Wyman (Les Miserables) as Giles.
Boggess (Broadway's The Little Mermaid, Master Class and London's Love Never Dies) was previously announced.
Based on the novel by Daphne du Maurier, Rebecca, about a young new wife brought to a country estate called Manderley, in the West Country of England, features original book and lyrics by Michael Kunze, music by Sylvester Levay, English book adaptation by two-time Tony Award winner Christopher Hampton (Sunset Boulevard) and English lyrics by Hampton and Kunze.
Rebecca will open on Broadway on April 22 at The Broadhurst Theatre. Previews will begin on March 27.
Direction is by Tony Award winner Michael Blakemore (Kiss Me, Kate; City of Angeles; Noises Off) and Francesca Zambello (The Little Mermaid). Multiple Tony-nominated director-choreographer Graciela Daniele (Ragtime) will create the musical staging for the show.
"Rebecca," which was also a 1940 Academy Award-winning film by Alfred Hitchcock, is a suspense novel by British writer du Maurier that begins with the famous line, "Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again."
Scenic design is by Peter J. Davidson, costumes by Jane Greenwood, lighting by Mark McCullough, sound by Peter Fitzgerald, special effects by Gregory Meeh and projections by Sven Ortel. Musical direction and supervision is by Kevin Stites.
Rebecca will be produced on Broadway by Ben Sprecher, Louise Forlenza, The Shubert Organization, Tony Fusco, Larry Feinman, Nanda Anand and Peter Bogyo by special arrangement with/and based on the Vereinigte Buhnen Wien GmbH production.
Rebecca had its world premiere in 2006 by Vereinigte Buhnen Wien at the Raimund Theater in Vienna, where it played for more than three years. Productions have also played Budapest, Hungary; Helsinki, Finland; Stuttgart, Germany; St. Gallen, Switzerland and at the Imperial Theatre in Tokyo.
