Mason, a long-time favorite at the Chicago nightspot, will also perform Christmas carols on the Emmy-winning CBS serial "The Guiding Light" on Dec. 24 (the program will air in New York Dec. 26). A celebration of holiday tunes, Mason's "Christmas!" act was also recorded live at New York's West Bank Cafe and subsequently released on CD by Zevely Records. The recording features such tunes as "We Need a Little Christmas," "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "Not This Christmas," "Joy to the World," "River," "Winter Wonderland," "Let it Snow," "Silent Night" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
Karen Mason just completed an acclaimed run in the hit musical Mamma Mia!. She also received much praise for her performance as Norma Desmond in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard, where she was standby for Glenn Close, Betty Buckley and Elaine Paige. Mason's other Broadway credits include Jerome Robbins' Broadway and Torch Song Trilogy. She appeared in the Off-Broadway revue And the World Goes 'Round, and she is one of the top draws on the cabaret scene. Her solo recordings are numerous and include "When the Sun Comes Out," "Not So Simply Broadway" and the aforementioned "Christmas! Christmas! Christmas!"
