Ziemba, who will appear in the upcoming production of Threepenny Opera at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, and Barrett, who returns to the Broadway company of Chicago June 2, will star in All That Kander and Ebb at the Guild Hall Sunday, Aug. 17. The twosome will also be joined by surprise special guests as they explore the canon of work by the writers of The Rink, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Chicago, Cabaret, Steel Pier, Zorba and Woman of the Year.
The evening is part of the Guild Hall’s American Musical Theater Salutes Series, which begins June 29 with Jerome Kern: The Touch of His Hand, starring Rebecca Luker and Patrick Quinn, and concludes Sept. 7 with A Tribute to Adolph Green, starring Phyllis Newman, Melissa Errico and George Dvorsky. All three shows will feature post-show “Meet the Stars” receptions, for an additional charge of $15 per reception.
Karen Ziemba won a Tony Award portraying the Wife in Susan Stroman's Contact. She has also starred on Broadway in Chicago, Steel Pier, Crazy for You and 42nd Street, and her Off-Broadway work includes a Drama Desk Award-winning performance in And the World Goes 'Round as well as roles in I Do! I Do!, 110 in the Shade and The Most Happy Fella. She also headlined the City Center Encores! presentation of Pajama Game.
Brent Barrett received an Olivier Award nomination for his role in the London company of Kiss Me, Kate. His other theatrical credits include the Broadway productions of Chicago, Annie Get Your Gun and Candide. Barrett received a Los Angeles Drama Critics Award for his work in the L.A. production of Chicago and has been seen Off-Broadway in Closer Than Ever, March of the Falsettos, The Death of Von Richtofen, The Time of the Cuckoo and Portrait of Jenny.
