Gingold Theatrical Group's 13th season of Project Shaw continues April 30 with Shaw Songs, a cabaret evening of songs that George Bernard Shaw played, sang, and enjoyed.
Marcia Milgrom Dodge directs the evening at The Players Club, the original home of Project Shaw, at 16 Gramercy Park South.
Attendees can expect to hear the works of Gilbert & Sullivan, Rodgers & Hart, Noel Coward, and Cole Porter, along with selections from operetta, opera, and music hall.
The 13th season will then continue back at Symphony Space May 21 for Shaw’s The Doctor’s Dilemma.
“Our Shaw Concerts in the past have featured music Shaw had championed as the New Modern Music (Dvorak, Wagner, Elgar, R. Strauss, Brahms), but this year we’ve decided to embrace Shaw’s love of popular songs with a festive cabaret. For the price of our regular Project Shaw performance, you’re invited to a party. We’re also looking forward to being back in the legendary Players Club,” said Artistic Director David Staller in an earlier statement.
