Actress-dancer-singer Karen Ziemba will take part in a reading of Lee Blessing's Whores on July 5 and 6 at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center.
Ziemba, who won a Tony Award for her performance in Susan Stroman's Contact, will share the stage with Shawn Elliott, Dierdre O’Connell, Carrie Preston and Elizabeth Reaser in Blessing's work, which concerns a Central-American general, three nuns and a Catholic lay worker. Melia Bensussen directs.
Ziemba won her Tony portraying the Wife in the hit dance musical Contact, which is still playing Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theater. She has also starred on Broadway in Chicago, Steel Pier, Crazy for You and 42nd Street, and her Off-Broadway work includes a Drama Desk Award-winning performance in And the World Goes 'Round as well as roles in I Do! I Do!, 110 in the Shade and The Most Happy Fella. This past season, she also headlined the City Center Encores! presentation of Pajama Game.
