Classic Arts News Karita Mattila Sings Her First Tosca One of the opera world's most beloved and glamorous divas takes on one of opera's most beloved and glamorous diva roles. (The role is, of course, that of a diva.)
Karita Mattila sings the eponymous prima donna in Puccini's Tosca for the first time onstage tonight at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki.

Vladimir Kuzmenko and Juha Uusitalo co-star as Cavaradossi and Scarpia; Mikko Franck conducts, and the production is directed and designed by Siegwulf Turek.

After this evening, there will be six more performances of this Tosca through September 21. Not surprisingly, they're all sold out.

More information on this and other Finnish National Opera productions is available at www.operafin.fi.
