Seven Brides for Seven Brothers features a book by Lawrence Kasha and David Landay, lyrics by Johnny Mercer, music by Gene de Paul and new songs by Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn. Directed by Lawrence Kasha, the original Broadway production played 15 previews and five regular performances at the Alvin Theatre in summer 1982. Debby Boone and the late David-James Carroll headed the cast.
