The new musical features a book by Gordon Greenberg and music and lyrics by Tommy Newman. Greenberg also directs the production, which has musical direction, orchestrations and additional music by Zachary Dietz.

The cast includes Kate Loprest as Emma with Jonathan Rayson, Kelsey Kurz, Nick Wyman, Farah Alvin, Robb Sapp, Susan Mosher, Victoria Cook and Gwen Holland.

Single Girls Guide, according to press notes, follows "the stylish world of 1966 Manhattan, where beloved newspaper columnist Emma Woodhouse is still single and about to turn 30. As her father urges her to marry the first available man and her editor — the handsome-but-preoccupied Nick Knightley — urges her to toe the line, Emma begins to transform her household advice column into a platform for change, encouraging readers to drop their casseroles, question the nature of marriage and demand sexual freedom. In a Helen Gurley Brown inspired move, Emma recruits Harriet, her first 'Single Girl' and vows to overhaul her life, setting into motion a chain of events that culminates in hilarious calamity at Truman Capote's famous Black and White Ball. In the end, love may conquer all but, as Emma learns along with her protégé, 'when it’s right, it’s never perfect.'"

The creative team also includes choreographer Michele Lynch, set designer Jo Winiarski, lighting designers Jeff Croiter and Cory Pattak, costume designer Dane Laffrey and sound designer David Thomas.

Performances will continue through March 30.

Tickets, priced $16-$70, are available by calling (518) 445-SHOW (7469) or by visiting capitalrep.org. Capital Repertory Theatre is located at 111 N. Pearl St. in Albany, NY.
