Alexander Greenfield directs a cast that features Kate Shindle (Wonderland, Legally Blonde), Alex Brightman (Wicked, Glory Days) and Theresa McCarthy (Titanic). Readings of the new musical are held July 25 at noon and 4 PM and July 28 at 2 PM.

The cast also includes Christopher DeProphetis, Jeffrey Wolf, Doug Paulson, Michelle Hakala, Susanne Layton, Russell Saylor, Kevin Michael Wade, Erik Gullberg, Danielle Eden, Sergi Robles, Elizabeth Evans and Matt Wood.

Reporting Live tells the true story of Christine Chubbuck (Shindle) and follows her — at the same time — on a fictional journey. Here's how NYMF bills the show: "Christine was a real-life television journalist from the early 1970s. She was smart, attractive, young, and passionate about her work. However, in 1974, Christine made history by creating one of the most disturbing broadcasts ever seen on television. After taking her own life, Christine wakes up in a desert with barely any sign of other people. However, she soon encounters an odd and lonely man (Brightman) who says he can help her. The two embark on an epic quest in a strange world for one reason: to find a way out. An uplifting biographical fantasy, Reporting Live is a genre-breaking musical set out to fight the casualties of depression and prove that even in the darkest of places, one can always be held closer to the light."

Finke, the show's creator, said in a statement, "I wrote the show as a means of discussing not only depression and suicide, but the means of coping, moving on, and finding a way out of that dark place in which so many people find themselves."

Reporting Live has been developed at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and received an album recording at Dubway Studios. Other members of the creative team include music director Andrew Brubaker and assistant director Chip Miller.

Now in its ninth year, the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF), which provides a launching pad for the next generation of musicals, is the largest annual musical theatre event in America.

The 45th Street Theatre is located at 354 W. 45th Street. Tickets are free of charge and available to NYMF members at NYMF.org or by calling (212) 352-3101. Tickets to the public may be obtained by going to the NYMF Hub at 330 West 42nd Street (between 8th and 9th Avenues).
