News Kate Winslet for the Donmar Warehouse?

Kate Winslet is reported to be joining Nicole Kidman at the Donmar Warehouse next year.

Baz Bamigboye in the Daily Mail suggests that following discussions with Sam Mendes, film star Kate Winslet may join Nicole Kidman in a double bill at the Donmar Warehouse next year.

The Covent Garden theatre already has a good relationship with Kidman, who starred there in The Blue Room, where the Daily Telegraph's drama critic Charles Spencer famously described her scantily-clad performance as "pure theatrical Viagara."

The combination of Kidman's willowy figure and Winslet's hourglass charms could be a box office sensation. Their appearance as part of the Donmar's tenth birthday celebrations next year would be a convincing proof - as if one were needed - of the international profile it has achieved during the last decade under the artistic direction of Sam Mendes, whose own career though firmly anchored in the theatre, now includes cinema as well.
