In a statement George Street artistic director David Saint said, "I have long admired Kathleen's work on stage, and I am so pleased she will be joining us here at George Street Playhouse. We are so thrilled to welcome Kathleen as well as all our esteemed directors this season. Their choosing to work at George Street Playhouse is further evidence that we have established a national reputation for first-class work." Calvin Berger features book, music and lyrics by Barry Wyner. The musical is a retelling of Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac set in a modern-day high school.

Kathleen Marshall was most recently represented on Broadway with the revival of Grease. She directed and choreographed the revivals of The Pajama Game and Wonderful Town, winning Tony Awards for her choreography for both productions. She also choreographed the Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors as well as the revivals of Follies; Kiss Me, Kate; Ring Round the Moon; and 1776. Marshall choreographed the Lynn Ahrens-Stephen Flaherty musical Seussical and the original revue Swinging on a Star. Her other Broadway credits — as creative associate or assistant choreographer — include Victor/Victoria, Damn Yankees, She Loves Me and Kiss of the Spider Woman. Marshall served as artistic director of City Center's acclaimed Encores! series for several seasons.
