Kathleen Turner and Deborah Cox Will Join Forces for Off-Broadway Play This Fall | Playbill

News Kathleen Turner and Deborah Cox Will Join Forces for Off-Broadway Play This Fall Two-time Tony nominee Kathleen Turner will return to the New York stage this fall in John S. Anastasi's Would You Still Love Me If…, which will begin previews Sept. 26 prior to an official opening Oct. 10 at New World Stages.

Directed by Nona Gerard, the production will also star Grammy nominee Deborah Cox, Rebecca Brooksher and Sofia Jean Gomez.

About the play, which focuses on one member of a lesbian couple who decides to undergo gender reassignment surgery, playwright Anastasi told the New York Times, "About a year ago, I was down in the Village, and I went to see [the French film] 'Blue Is the Warmest Color' ...I was moved by the relationship of these two women, and was pondering if there was anything that could change their love. For some reason, it crossed my mind — what if one of them decided they wanted to physically change. That was the germ of the idea."

Brooksher and Gomez will play the lesbian couple with Turner as the mother of the young woman who is contemplating the surgery and Cox as the surgeon.

Designing the production will be Brian Prather (scenic design), Zach Blane (lighting design) and Tristan Raines (costume design). Kelly Genovese and Carolyn Reich will stage manage. Casting is by Jeff and Liz Pessaro (Passero Casting).

Producers are Robert Levinstein and Alan Wager of 22Q Entertainment. Anastasi is also the author of Pied a Terre and I Forgive You, Ronald Reagan.
