Broadway stars Kelli Rabke, Darius de Haas, and Jessica Hendy will escort audiences inside the world of the composer of Wicked, Godspell, and Pippin in a pair of October 28 concerts, titled The Wizard and I: The Stephen Schwartz Songbook at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC).
Rabke (who played the narrator in the 1994 Broadway revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) and de Haas (Rent, Marie Christine), both of whom were featured in the 1997 Paper Mill Playhouse production of Schwartz’ musical Children of Eden, will celebrate the 20th anniversary of that production, aided by Broadway regular Hendy (Cats).The playlist includes “Defying Gravity,” “Day by Day,” and “Meadowlark.”
The concerts will take place at 6 and 8:30 PM in the cabaret-style Chase Room at NJPAC, 1 Center Street, Newark, New Jersey.
Schwartz has won Grammy Awards and Oscars for his work, which also includes film scores to Pocahontas, The Prince of Egypt, Geppetto, and Enchanted.
