Kelsey Grammer Extends Run in Broadway's Finding Neverland | Playbill

News Kelsey Grammer Extends Run in Broadway's Finding Neverland Emmy Award winner Kelsey Grammer, who, on Jan. 19, returned to the role of Captain Hook — the part he originated when Finding Neverland arrived on Broadway in March 2015 — has extended his run at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.

The stage and screen star, who had been scheduled to continue through Feb. 21, will now end his run March 26. His replacement will be announced at a later time.

Best-known for his work on TV's "Cheers" and "Frasier," Grammer has been seen on Broadway in Macbeth, Othello and La Cage aux Folles.

In related news, On the Town Tony nominee Tony Yazbeck, most recently seen in the Japan world premiere of Prince of Broadway, will succeed fellow Tony nominee Matthew Morrison as "Peter Pan" creator J.M. Barrie. Morrison will exit the production Jan. 24 (the former "Glee" star has landed a recurring role on CBS' "The Good Wife"). Yazbeck, who will be part of Playbill Travel's Broadway On the High Seas 6 cruise Feb. 12-19 throughout the Caribbean, is scheduled to begin performances Jan. 26.

Finding Neverland stars Morrison ("Glee," South Pacific, Light in the Piazza) as famed author J.M. Barrie, as well as Laura Michelle Kelly (Mary Poppins), Carolee Carmello (Parade), Teal Wicks, Casey Butler, Alex Dreier, Jackson Demott Hill, Christian Michael, Christopher Paul Richards and Eli Tokash. Directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus, the musical officially opened April 15 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.

Based on the Academy Award-winning Miramax motion picture by David Magee, and the play The Man Who Was Peter Pan by Allan Knee, Finding Neverland "follows the relationship between playwright J. M. Barrie and the family that inspired 'Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up' – one of the most beloved stories of all time," according to press notes.

Finding Neverland features direction by Paulus (Pippin, Hair) with a book by Olivier Award nominee James Graham, music and lyrics by Gary Barlow and Grammy Award winner Eliot Kennedy, and choreography by Emmy Award winner Mia Michaels ("So You Think You Can Dance").

The production also has scenic design by Tony Award winner Scott Pask (Pippin, Book of Mormon), lighting design by Tony Award winner Kenneth Posner (The Coast of Utopia, Pippin), costume design by Suttirat Larlarb (Of Mice and Men) and sound design by Tony Award nominee Jonathan Deans (Pippin, La Cage aux Folles).
